National Provider Appreciation Day


National Provider Appreciation Day is a special day to recognize the tireless efforts of child care providers, teachers and other educators of young children everywhere. Started in 1996 by a group of volunteers in New Jersey, Provider Appreciation Day is celebrated each year on the Friday before Mother's Day.

World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is an annual celebration of the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. World Red Cross Red Crescent Day is celebrated on 8 May each year. This date is the anniversary of the birth of Henry Dunant (born May 8, 1828), the founder of International Committee of the Red Cross and the recipient of the first Nobel Peace Prize. It is an opportunity to celebrate the bravery and the achievements of the volunteers and staff members who ensure that we keep our commitment to humanity every day by being there before, during, and after a disaster, health crisis or conflict.

Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Day


The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is a charitable initiative conducted by the National Association of Letter Carriers in the United States to make significant donations of food to organizations serving needy persons. The event takes place in late spring because most food banks start running out of food this time of year due to the largest donations being made around Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is held in all 50 states every year on the second Saturday of May: on this day, mail carriers both deliver mail and collect food donations.

Cornelia De Lange Syndrome Awareness Day


National Cornelia De Lange Syndrome Awareness Day is observed the second Saturday of May each year in order to shed light on this often misdiagnosed, little-known genetic syndrome. Cornelia de Lange Syndrome is a genetic disorder present from birth, but not always diagnosed at birth. It causes a range of physical, cognitive and medical challenges and affects both genders equally.
