Chinese New Year


Chinese New Year, known in modern Chinese as the "Spring Festival," usually falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice. The New Year starts at the beginning of this lunar calendar and ends with Lantern Festival, on the 15th day.

National Plum Pudding Day


Despite the name "plum pudding," the pudding contains no actual plums due to the pre-Victorian use of the word "plums" as a term for raisins.

Abraham Lincoln's Birthday


Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 and became the United States' 16th President in 1861. On January 1, 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy.
