The UN General Assembly, in 1989, proclaimed November 20 Africa Industrialization Day to mobilize the commitment of the international community to the industrialization of Africa.

November 20 marks the day on which the General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, in 1959, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, in 1989. Universal Children's Day is a day of activity devoted to promoting the ideals and objectives of the Charter and the welfare of the children of the world.
