National Hairball Awareness Day is observed annually on the last Friday in April. This day is listed as one of the Pet Health Awareness Events of the American Veterinary Medical Association. A hairball is a ball of hair that collects in the stomach of a cat or similar animal as a result of the animal's licking its coat.
