National High Five Day


National High Five Day was started in 2002 at the University of Virginia. A group of students set up shop on the main quad of the campus and gave out high-fives and lemonade. It is usually celebrated on the third Thursday in April.

National Stress Awareness Day


National Stress Awareness Day takes place on April 16. The day was started by the Health Resource Network in 1992 to raise awareness of stress.

National Orchid Day


On April 16, 2014, Mike and Faith Young lost their daughter during labor. Her name is Orchid, inspired by the magnificent beauty and unique expressions of orchid blossoms. After launching a Kickstarter campaign in 2015, April 16 is National Orchid Day, in honor of their daughter.

It is an initiative to encourage patients to express their wishes regarding healthcare and for providers and facilities to respect those wishes, whatever they may be.
