National Love Our Children Day
An initiative of Love Our Children USA, National Love Our Children Day is celebrated annually on the first Saturday of every April. The day was created to acknowledge the value of children, to educate parents on the importance of giving them love, protection and respect, to strengthen families, and to raise awareness for efforts to keep children safe.
National Student-Athlete Day
National Student-Athlete Day is generally recognized April 6 nationwide, but can be celebrated throughout the months of March and April at NCAA colleges and universities. The day recognizes the accomplishments of student-athletes who excel in the classroom, on the playing fields, and who give back to their community through service projects.
International Day of Sport for Development and Peace
On August 23, 2013, the the United Nations General Assembly decided to proclaim April 6 as the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. The mission is to place sport at the service of humankind and promote a peaceful society and healthy lifestyles by associating sport with culture and education and safeguarding human dignity without any discrimination whatsoever.
