National Horse Protection Day
According to Horseprotectionday.com, National Horse Protection Day was founded in 2005 by Pet Lifestyle Expert and Animal Behaviorist/Advocate, Colleen Paige to bring light to the plight of horses in America and beyond - and help the thousands of unwanted horses in this country to find forever homes.
Zero Discrimination Day

According to the Craft and Hobby Association, crafting can reduce stress, build self-esteem, increase physical dexterity, improve concentration, and enhance health and mental wellness. During National Craft Month, stores are encouraged to provide exciting opportunities for friends and family to spend time creating items that provide both joy and fulfillment.
National Nutrition Month
National Nutrition Month is a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
National Umbrella Month
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary: "We most often think of an umbrella as something that protects us from the rain. However, its shade can protect us from the hot sun, too. The English word umbrella came from Italian ombrella, which itself is taken from Latin umbella, literally, 'little shade.' Umbella is derived from umbra, meaning 'shade' or 'shadow.' "
National Read Across America Day
National Read Across America, also known as Dr. Seuss Day, is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss. According to the National Education Association, "research has shown that children who are motivated and spend more time reading do better in school."
National Day of Unplugging
The National Day of Unplugging is a 24 hour period and starts on the first Friday in March. According to the nationaldayofunplugging.com, the project is an outgrowth of The Sabbath Manifesto, an adaption of the ritual of carving out one day per week to unwind, unplug, relax, reflect, get outdoors, and connect with loved ones.
National Employee Appreciation Day
National Employee Appreciation Day is a secular holiday celebrated on the first Friday in March. The day was created for the purpose of strengthening the bond between employer and employee and creates and opportunity for employers to thank their employees for their hard work and effort.
