National Chip and Dip Day


Chips used include potato chips, tortilla chips, corn chips, bean chips, vegetable chips, pita chips, or plantain chips.

National Near Miss Day


On March 23, 1989, a large asteroid traveling at 46,000 miles per hour, passed through Earth's orbit less than 400,000 miles away. Our planet had been at that point only six hours earlier. National Near Miss Day commemorates this accident that was just barely avoided.

National Melba Toast Day


Melba toast is a dry, crisp and thinly sliced toast, often served with soup and salad or topped with either melted cheese or pate. It is named after Dame Nellie Melba, the stage name of Australian opera singer Helen Porter Mitchell.

National Puppy Day


National Puppy Day, established in 2006, is meant to celebrate puppies, promote the adoption of orphaned puppies, and educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills.

World Meteorological Day


Since 1961, World Meteorological Day has commemorated the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization and the essential contribution that National Meteorological and Hydrological Services make to the safety and well-being of society.
